LAGUNA GLACIAL TREK One of the most high – altitude treks from Sorata is four day Laguna Glacial – Chilata Trek lies between the colossal mountains of Illampu and Janco Uma. Ice towers are use to drop from the main Glacier to the Laguna Glacier at 5,038 meters above sea level.

Departure from La Paz in the morning to cross Lake Titicaca and different towns with a lot of history until arriving at Sorata with a time in our car of 4 hours. On the way we will see the Illampu mountains (6331m) and Jankho Uma (6429m) as well as the Sorata valley (2680m). Then stay at our Hotel. In the afternoon we will take a walk to the San Pedro Caverns to acclimatize and be ready to head into the mountains.
Walking time: 4 to 5 hours.
This day will be a very long day and a little hard as we ascend gradually in a zig-zag pattern, we will observe beautiful landscapes until Laguna Chilata (4200 m). A perfect place to camp with a wonderful view almost touching the sky.
Walking time: 6 to 7 hours.
This is a very special day for those who love adventure and the mountains will gradually ascend at the foot of the glaciers, we will be able to observe ruins of ancient cultures that extracted gold and then reach the glacial lagoon (5038 m) where we will have our lunch, we will have a time to take photographs and walk along the shore of the Illampu and Janko Uma glaciers. Then we will return to the Chilata camp.
Walking time: 8 to 9 hours.
This day we leave the camp in the morning and then descend towards the town of Sorata to have an exquisite lunch then return to La Paz with an approximate time of 4 hours.
