Day1: Arrive to Santa Cruz, transfer to the Refugio Volcanes

Arrive to Santa Cruz at 12:00 am then we will be transferred from Santa Cruz airport to the Refugio Los Volcanes in the morning, we leave from Santa Cruz heading for the National Park Amboro. The park is characterized by its different ecological floors - they are as many as the whole country of Costa Rica - with its immense wealth in flora and fauna: more than 1.200 of species of vertebrates. 840 of them are birds, with which Amboro is one of the richest regions in wild birds all over the world. However, it is also habitat of the Jucumari (spectacled bear), of the jaguar, of the puma and of diverse species of monkeys and a great variety of mammals, reptiles and lizards. Our lodge, the refuge Volcanes, is located in the south limit of the National Park Amboro, at only one hour and a half of trip from Santa Cruz. The protected area of the lodge (282 ha) is located amid an astonishing landscape characterized by rocks of gritty stone several hundred meters high amid a tropical cloudy forest. To sum up: a paradise for every lover of nature and ornithologist. In the afternoon, first trip from the refuge through the cloudy forests of the park with fantastic views on the formations of gritty stone. Day 2: Refugio Volcanes, Trip to Samaipata

After a pleasant breakfast, we leave for a lingering walk through the grandiose landscapes and a refreshing swim in a natural pond fed by a waterfall. We set out trip toward Samaipata. To the left, you will appreciate tropical forests, to the right fruit plantations and small towns. The highway opens up road through a narrow valley, ascending, ascending to get to Las Cuevas, where you will be amazed by an entire series of waterfalls. Near the end of the afternoon, we arrive to Samaipata, a small colonial town, idyllically located amid gentle green hills. In fact, for several years, Samaipata has become the privileged place by many foreigners who want to escape from the modern world and to settle down in this paradisiacal corner of the planet. We chose a special lodge for you, located in a small hill in the outskirts of the town - ideal for a relaxed afternoon and a reparative rest under the vastness of the starry sky. Night in Samaipata. Day 3: The Fort of Samaipata, return to Santa Cruz

In the morning, your guide will take you to the pre-Inca ruins El Fuente was an administrative and important religious center of the pre-Columbian culture. Later, the Inca enlarged it, because it constituted the end of the biggest oriental extension in the Inca Empire. A walk through the whole compound will offer you beautiful views to the rock of biggest carved gritty stone of South America, declared Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity by the UNESCO. In the afternoon, you will pay a visit to the small archaeological museum of Samaipata, where you will learn even more about the mysteries of the pre-Inca ruins. Return to Santa Cruz. Night in Santa Cruz (B, L) (420 m)

Day 4: Fligth Santa Cruz - Rurrenabaque – Madidi National Park

This day we will leave Santa Cruz at 05:00 am then we will connect to Rurrenabaque then we will start our adventure in rainforest.

09:30: Departure by motorboat from Rurrenabaque to the Madidi National Park. The trip up the Beni and Tuichi rivers takes 3 hours and is a great opportunity to spot wildlife and admire the impressive landscape of the Amazon, such as the Bala Canyon.

12:30: Arrival to Madidi Jungle Ecolodge and accommodation in our traditional-style cabins.

13:00: Lunch and time to relax in the hammocks.

15:00: After lunch, we set out for a 3-hour guided hike along the Tareche Trail. This is an opportunity to observe a variety of bird species, mainly macaws and parrots, and to appreciate the surrounding tropical rainforest. You may spot different animals such as the white-lipped peccary, the brown capuchin monkey and the red howler monkey. After hiking along the Aguapolo riverbank, we return to the ecolodge by the Wabu Trail.

19:30: Dinner at the ecolodge. After eating, you will have the opportunity to go on a short night hike to experience the nocturnal wildlife. During the walk you will be able to see amphibians and insects, such as the tarantula. You can take in the jungle symphony produced by uncountable varieties of wildlife.

Day 5: Madidi National Park

07:30: Breakfast at the ecolodge. After breakfast, we set out on a 3-hour guided hike along the Biwa Trail, where black spider monkeys are often encountered. Along this trail you will stop at the natural Madidi scenic viewpoint for a panoramic view of the rainforest canopy. Return to the ecolodge along the Tareche Trail.

12:30: Lunch and an opportunity to relax in the hammocks.

15:00: We will go on a 3-hour guided walk via the Mapajo and Almendrillo Trails. Along these trails, you’ll appreciate the Giant Kapok Tree, Almendrillo Tree and the Strangler Fig Tree. Your guide will provide an in-depth explanation of the diverse species of plants used for medicinal purposes. It is a great opportunity to learn about the Amazon ecosystems while observing the pristine environment and different wildlife species. Return to the ecolodge along the Dati Trail.

19:30: Sample a traditional dinner of Dunucuabi (catfish wrapped in leaves) at the lodge and enjoy free time.

Day 6: Madidi National Park – Rurrenabaque – Pampas del Yacuma

07:30: Breakfast at the ecolodge. Then we will take a boat upstream along the Tuichi river to the Serere Trail. A hike via the jungle floodplain to the Piraña lagoon offers a chance to see yellow squirrel monkeys before stopping to fish for piranha. After fishing, we will stop at a large, recently discovered, salt lick to learn more about the animal behavior. Return to the lodge by boat.

12:30: Lunch followed by free time before returning to Rurrenabaque.

13:30: Return to Rurrenabaque by boat. On the way back, you have the option to visit Caquiahuara to see red and green macaws and other species of parrot. Bird sighting can be done any time of year but is more frequent from May to November. The trip is also a great opportunity to see some exotic species such as the capybaras, tapirs, turtles and caimans. The return trip takes only 2 hours.

15:30: Arrival in Rurrenabaque. Transfer to our office in town to prepare for the Pampas trip.

16:00 Departure by Jeep to the Pampas del Yacuma. The trip takes 3 hours and is your opportunity to see animals in the way, especially capybaras, caimans, sloths and a variety of birds.

19:30 Dinner time at a local restaurant in the Pampas.

20:00 Transfer to the Lodge and accommodation in their rooms with private bathrooms.

8:30 After dinner you will have the possibility to go for short activity, so we will use a boat for searching caimans. The activity takes about an hour. Return to the lodge and rest.

Day 7: Pampas del Yacuma – Rurrenabaque

5:30 Short activity to observe the sunrise and at the same time we will go to observe a variety of birds with their songs start the day in the Bolivian Amazon.

07:30 Breakfast at the lodge.

08:30 Departure by boat to observe a lot of wildlife, mainly capybaras, caimans, turtles, squirrels monkeys, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys and a variety of birds. The boat ride and activity takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, in the way you will be able to observe the famous pink river dolphin, which has perfect habitat in the Rio Yacuma, if you are interested you can swim with them. Depending on the time feature, optionally we can make piranha-fishing activity. Return to the lodge.

12: 30 Lunch at the Lodge.

13:30 Return to Rurrenabaque. The trip takes 3 hours in a small vehicle and it is your last chance to see some animals on the way back.

16: 00 Arrival at the Rurrenabaque airport or transfer to your hotel.

Note: If the group does not have flight schedule on the same day, we will return an hour later to Rurrenabaque.

Day 8: Fligth Rurrenabaque – La Paz City Tour La Paz in the afternoon

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to La Paz the tour guide will wait you at airport in La Paz Transfer to hotel in the afternoon city tour. During the tour, we will appreciate the cultural, historical, architectural, and natural wealth. Visiting The Square Murillo, Cathedral, Palace of Government, Church of San Francisco, Viewer of Killi Killi, Gold Museum, Witches market and the Valley of the Moon, located to 13 Km. of the city. The erosion has achieved after the years to form a group of astonishing stony formations that give the visitor the sensation of having discovered an unknown world then we will visit the cable car two lines yellow and green almost 25 minutes. Day 9: The Death Road

07:00 we pick you up from the meeting place so to have breakfast and we check the right size of all the clothing and gear for each person like helmet, raincoat, elbow caps, kneecaps, bikes, and so on.
07:45 once we have all the clothing and the whole gear for mountain biking (KONA brand) and along with mechanic guides and everything for the venture, we depart from La Paz city, which is located in a altitude of 3.600 meters towards the foot of the Andean mountain range or Royal mountain range, exactly towards the so called Cumbre which is at 4.700 meters on one hour and 15 minutes by our private transport service (minibus). During this short journey, we can watch dessert flora and fauna of the high plateau and snowy mountains of the Royal mountain range where usually the temperature is from 0 to 5 degrees. 09:00 we are acquainted with all our gear, then we listen carefully to the explanations of the guides who have a lot of expertise about the road.

09:30 descent, we start this biking venture, the first part is on asphalted road towards Unduavi town (antidrug control but just for cars), in a very frigid climate. In this place we can feel a temperate climate and in this place we buy entrance tickets for the circuit which have a cost of 30.00 Bolivians per each person (this cost is not included in our service), besides this cost is just a symbolic payment to support Death Road indigenous communities for their development.  10:30 soil road in an altitude of 2.700 meters at the Cotapata sub-tropical town where the asphalted road ends and the onset of Bolivian forest begins. The most dangerous road around the world. Well - known as the road of death. This is a soil road that offers and incredible sight while going down carefully headed by the guides. Passing by the rivers, waterfalls, and the flora and fauna of this place 12:00 a break for a proper rest of about 20 minutes in order to have some snacks already prepared in La Paz like fruits, peanuts, chocolate, and drinks 14:00 we arrive at Yolosa town 1.200 meters which has a warmth climate and this place is the end of the biking adventure. Then we go towards Coroico at Esmeralda Hotel to take a shower, to have the lunch enjoying a good temperature next to the swimming pool.
16:30 we return to La Paz city in our transport service on the new two-ways highway, this is called Cotapata Santa Barbara and is very safe. (B, L)

Day 10: La Paz – La Rinconada - Laguna Jurikhota

Trekking: easy to moderated

Departure from La Paz at 8:30 a.m. in our private vehicle we will take about 3 hrs. to la rinconada, we will have our lunch before we will start our trek at (4300 m).  Then we will walk up very slowly until the pass (5000 m).  then we will go down 400 meters we will find our base camp at 4650 meters after we arrive we will do our tents from there you will see a magical view the rest afternoon you will explore the lagoon Jurikhota overnight Camping site (B,L, D)

Hiking time: 3 to 4 hrs.

Day 11: Laguna Jurikhota - Austria Pick - Laguna Chiarkhota

From Laguna Jurikhota we begin by ascending up a steep slope to reach Laguna Congelada, (two glaciers literally fall into its icy waters), a jewel nested at an altitude of 4900 meters at the foot of El Condoriri (5650 m). From there we keep climbing to a second pass Paso Austria (5200 m) before descending on the other side towards El Condoriri and El Pequeño Alpamayo base camp, at the edge of Laguna Chiarkhota (4670 m). We will find a beautiful view for our camping site. (B, L, D)

Hiking time: 6-to7 hrs.

Day 12: Laguna Chiarkhota - Tuni Village – La Paz

We leave the Condoriri behind us, pass at the base of the Black Needle and eventually reach the Jallayko Pass (5025 m). We then drop into the very beautiful and steep Jistaña Valley, before ascending Tillipata Pass (5000 m). The spectacular scenery over the myriad of Lagunas down below is ample reward for our efforts. Later on, another downhill until Tuni village then we will come back to La Paz. (B, L)

Day 13: Flight La Paz - Uyuni – San Juan

We will pick you up at 06:00 am in the morning to the airport where we will take our flight at 08;00 am to Uyuni around 10.00 am we will have an unforgettable trip across 12 000 km2 of fantastic salt landscape. You have to ready your camera ready. The amazing Uyuni Salt flat view (or Tunupa) looks like a different planet. We will visit ´Colchani´, where we will stop to visit the family house where they are processing the Salt then we will enter the Salar and stop at the salt mounts from where we will continue towards to Incahuasi Island when we will have our lunch then we will continue our visiting the island we will walk 1 hour around the island. After visiting the island, we will go to San Juan village where we will sleep overnight. (3650 m) (B, L, D)

Day 14: San Juan – Laguna Colorada

This day we will leave our Hotel at 07:30 am we will visit on the way the lookout volcano Ollague a fantastic view then we will go towards the lagoons chain of Cañapa, Hedionda, ChiarKhota, Honda and Ramaditas, where we will see a good quantity of the three kinds of flamingos and other kinds of birds as Andean seagulls and wild ducks. These birds live on the lagoons alongside of the volcanoes with their eternal snow on the top and their green sides mixed with other colors done by the borax and sulphur then we will stop on the way to appreciate some natural monuments carved by the wind, such us the Arbol de Piedra (Stone Tree). These fantastic deserts gather all the colors from browns, reds, oranges, brass, coffee and beige then we will fine Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve where is located greatest Laguna Colorada where we will walk 30 minutes and we will fine flamingos  Laguna Colorada where we will sleep (B, L, D) (4200 m)

Day 15: Laguna Colorada – Laguna Verde – Uyuni

This day we will leave our Hotel at 07:00 am after an early breakfast, we will drive up to the Geysers of Sol de mañana this point is the higher altitude of the tour. We will be at 5000 meters above the sea level.  We will be able to walk among the smoky and noisy geysers, boiling mud stewpot where red and grey mud is boiling like water. The desert and Salar of Chalviri are another scenery of big value, which combine the white of the snow and from the borax with the red brown of the desert and with the blue of the water. In that place we will have the opportunity to have a bath in the Hot Springs of Polques and then to have a delicious Lunch. Later we will drive to Salvador Dali Rock Desert then we will stop at Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon) at the base Licancabur Volcano. Then we will come back to Uyuni, we will stop at San Cristobal village which has been moved from its original site to the actual one (even the church!) for the needs of one the biggest mine in the world.  Accommodation Hotel los Jardines (B, L, D) (3680 m)

Day 16: Uyuni – Potosi

In the morning, we will drive 4 hours and we will cross the Cordillera de los Frailes we will have a beautiful landscapes to reach Potosí (4500 m) The so-called “Imperial City” had a time of international glory in the 16th and 17th century when it sheltered the world’s largest silver mine. Nowadays the Cerro Rico (“Rich Hill”) is still exploited but the glory is memory. In the afternoon, we will visit the royal Mint House and walking city tour (B, L) (4050 m)

Day 17: Potosi – Sucre

Today we will get to know the history and current life of Potosí, city listed as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO (half-day tour). Our guide will pick us up at 09:00 am at the hotel lobby and we will go to the Cerro Rico to visit the mine and see the miners at work. We will see the look out from Cerro rico the Potosi city. This encounter can be overwhelming since the miners (of all ages) work in very hard conditions. We will then go back to the city after lunch we will take our transport to Sucre. The nice small colonial city of Sucre (el. 2810 m.) at the end of the afternoon. We will leave behind the Altiplano and descend to the Chuquisaca Valley. Here we will cross the Pilcomayo River on the Sucre Bridge; an interesting structure that looks like a medieval construction, even if built in the 19th century. We will arrive in Sucre (2800 m) after around 3 hours on the road (160 km). (B, L)

Day 18: Sucre

Today we spend the day in the beautiful “white city” of Sucre. Listed as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, the constitutional capital of Bolivia is famous for its flair of quietness, its beautiful colonial architecture and its numerous churches. Our guide will pick us up at 09:00 am at the hotel lobby to show us the most famous buildings and museums of the city. We will start with the Convent de la Recoleta, monastery of the Franciscan order build in 1601. We will then learn more about the culture of the region and the country in the Museum of Indigenous Art (ASUR) and about the Bolivian history in The Casa de la Libertad, where the Independence Act was signed in 1825. We will end the day visiting the Monastery of San Felipe Nery, enjoying a beautiful view over the city from its terrace then you will have a free afternoon. (B, L)

Day 19: Sucre - Maragua Crater – Sucre

Departure at 8:00 a.m. We will pick you up from your hotel as long as you are in the center of the city, later we travel for about 1 1/2 hrs. In the direction of the Inca trail where we will find a small Catholic chapel. Once we visit, we will begin the walk for approximately two hours (it will depend on the speed of each one), on the way it is full of views of the crater and small streams in certain places if built the aqueducts used by the Incas, once this route is done we will go to the crater in mobility for about 40 minutes. We will arrive just in time for lunch and again we will walk in the direction of La Garganta del Diablo for about 45 minutes and we will visit a community that is dedicated to making hand-woven fabrics where one can buy their products from this community. Once we have visited, we will return to the city of Sucre ending at approximately 18:00 (B, L)
